Increase in the number of people sports betting in Uganda among the Urban- youth has been attributed to the lack of jobs. Many youth consider the sport a source of easy money. Contary to what one might think, betting is done mostly by the poor.
Therefore instead of the quick fix it appears to offer, it robs the poor of the little they have.
It is a known practice that sports betting houses cash in shs. 10 million each day but only pay out a sum of one million shillings or less each time.
